Dr. Joseph Michael McDonald is a board-certified pediatric rheumatologist specializing in diagnosing and treating rheumatic diseases in children and adolescents. He earned his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse. He then completed both his pediatrics residency and pediatric rheumatology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Additionally, Dr. McDonald obtained a master’s degree in clinical and translational research from the University of Cincinnati.
Dr. McDonald’s clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions affecting the joints, skin, muscles, and blood vessels. He has extensive training in musculoskeletal ultrasound and is actively developing diagnostic and interventional ultrasound programs for children with arthritis, enhancing diagnosis, monitoring treatment responses, and facilitating targeted interventions. 
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. McDonald is committed to research focused on improving the quality of life for pediatric patients with inflammatory eye diseases and integrating musculoskeletal ultrasound into clinical care. He also dedicates time to teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows, guiding them throughout their medical careers.
