Jessica Turnier is a Pediatric Rheumatologist and physician scientist at the University of Michigan. She established a juvenile myositis clinic to increase access to state of the art clinical care and integrate research with clinical care. She also developed a juvenile myositis patient and family advisory council to partner with patients and families in improving patient care and experience. Her research focuses on understanding the biochemical and cellular pathways underlying skin and systemic inflammation in juvenile myositis. Her research aims to discover how cutaneous inflammation influences systemic disease development, disease progression and disease phenotypes. Her overarching goal is to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets to develop personalized medicine approaches to treatment for juvenile myositis.
