Dr. Jacob Spitznagle is a pediatric rheumatologist specializing in the treatment of juvenile dermatomyositis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis. He serves as an attending physician in pediatric rheumatology at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Dr. Spitznagle completed his medical degree at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, followed by a pediatrics residency at the University of California, San Francisco. He then pursued a fellowship in pediatric rheumatology at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Spitznagle is active in research, particularly in juvenile dermatomyositis, contributing to publications on the treatment of refractory cases. His work is highly regarded within the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA), where he has co-authored several studies focusing on biologic DMARDs and the immune system’s role in disease progression.
He is board-certified in pediatric rheumatology and currently holds a faculty position at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he contributes to both clinical care and academic research.
