Dr. Lauren T. Covert is a highly accomplished pediatric rheumatologist who has undergone extensive training to specialize in her field. She completed her Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship Program at Duke University, School of Medicine, where she honed her expertise in treating autoimmune and inflammatory conditions in children. Prior to that, she undertook a Combined Internal Medicine / Pediatrics Residency at the University of California, San Diego, School of Medicine, following her Pediatric Internship at the same institution. Dr. Covert earned her M.D. from Georgetown University, School of Medicine in 2016.
Dr. Covert’s research endeavors have been supported by significant funding, including a grant from the Cure JM Foundation for her project titled “Cell-free mitochondrial DNA induces type I interferon production in an experimental myobundle model of juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM),” awarded for the period of 2022 – 2023. This grant underscores her commitment to advancing the understanding and treatment of juvenile dermatomyositis.
