Cure JM Foundation 2018 National Fundraiser

Cure JM families Raise Over $83,000 for JM Research

WalkersThe 2nd Annual Walk Strong to Cure JM™ D.C. was Cure JM’s first charity walk across a state line. Hundreds of people walked from the Key Bridge Marriott in Arlington, VA, across the Key Bridge into Washington, D.C., and back.

The walk coincided with a heatwave, but despite the warmth, the families enjoyed music, yard games, face painting, and were entertained by a DJ, a Washington Nationals mascot, and superheroes like Batman.

Conference attendees walked alongside local D.C./MD/VA Chapter supporters to raise funds for important Myositis research. Through the generosity of several individuals and walk teams, donations totaling more than $83,000 will go towards research to find a cure. Thanks to everyone who raised funds, and those that donated.

Savannah's SquadWalks are crucial to Cure JM. Nearly all funds raised by our organization comes from family fundraisers, which include walks.

We are grateful to so many people who came together and made the DC Walk a lifelong memory. We would like to thank the D.C. Walk Committee for their time and organizing the event. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with everything from the refreshments, to the making sure the walkers all safely crossed on to the bridge. Thank you to Dr. Steven Ray Mitchell, who served as Walk Medical Chair, and for the expert care he provides several local are kids living with JM. Thank you to the volunteers who inflated red Cure JM balloons, handed out bubble wands, and sold kid’s crafts for donations toward the cause. Together, we made a difference.

Cure JM Foundation launched its Walk Strong to Cure JM™ program in 2016. At these events, Cure JM families, friends, neighbors, and other supporters in the local community band together to raise money for JM research through a family-friendly fundraising walk. These family fun festivals also help to raise awareness of JM in communities across the nation.
