Cure JM Foundation 2017 National Conference and Fundraiser
Patient Advocacy: Navigating School, Sports and Community
Written by Michelle Best, Cure JM Parent and President of the Cure JM Washington, D.C. Chapter
In the workshop, we covered health plans, 504 plans and IEPs (Individualized Education Plans).
For IEP’s we covered: what is the eligibility criteria, how to get the process started, and how to advocate for your chid. In addition, we discussed how to communicate with schools, coaches and other activity leaders and the importance of finding a sport or activity that truly meets the social needs of our kids.
